This role is responsible for executing on the Engineering Early in Career (EiC) strategy by effectively supporting and implementing all projects and events during an Engineers first year with Cisco. The Project Specialist will be responsible for delivering on several projects within the Early in Career program office suite. These projects will all directly impact the experience of Cisco engineering new hires and help prepare them for a successful career. The Project Specialist will work closely with the Engineering Early in Career Experience Project Manager to ensure a seamless delivery of New Hire Orientation and San Jose based learning and networking opportunities. The Project Specialist will strive to execute on best in class programs and events for all new hire engineers participating in our team offerings.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager plan and execute on the New Hire Orientation Event that takes places 45 times annually
  • Assist Project Manager plan and execute various San Jose events including Offer Days, Intern

Showcase, New Grad Expo and On-Site networking events

  • Provide support to the Project Manager by attending project team meetings, tracking deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met and delivering on seamless and consistent events
  • Assist Project Manager develop content design and agenda for the Engineering specific new grad and intern orientation sessions
  • Assist Project Manager identify and recruit appropriate Engineering speakers, panelists and volunteers and ensure content aligns with event objectives.
  • Assist Project Manager partner with cross functional teams to coordinate all orientation logistics
  • Assist Project Manager with event logistics by securing room, catering, giveaways, Cisco TV, signage, set up, I-9 document processing, badging, laptop set up and tear down
  • Assist Project Manager with PO's from outside vendors
  • Assist with set up the day of events including giveaways, signs, food and any additional décor
  • Promote Cisco culture during event by displaying collaboration, partnership, respect, support and accountability
  • Attend all events to ensure a smooth execution and troubleshoot when necessary
  • Act as resource during events to help with questions, games and offsite activities
  • Participate in post orientation operations including surveys, team debriefs, and lessons learned
  • Assist Project Manager analyze event performance and prepare metrics
  • Assist Project Manager identify modifications to upcoming orientations to deliver a best in class orientation experience
  • Assist Project Manager with the arrival of all engineering new hire off starts including logistics, laptops and communications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
  • Must have a minimum 2 years of event / project planning experience  Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) required
